Thin pork chops have a reputation - but dry and dull isn’t on the menu anymore. This air fryer recipe gives you juicy, golden-edged chops that taste like you worked way harder than you did. The air fryer locks in flavor, crisps the edges, and gets it done in under 15 minutes.

Boneless or bone-in, the simple spice rub brings bold, savory flavor with a touch of sweetness. It’s fast, foolproof, and exactly what you want when dinner needs to impress and hit the table before anyone starts rummaging for snacks.

Love crispy, juicy mains with barely any cleanup? Then you’ve got to try Air Fryer Chicken and Vegetables, Air Fryer Chicken Breast, Easy Chicken Fajitas, Air Fryer Turkey Breast, and Juicy Air Fryer Tri Tip Steak.

Ingredients Needed for Thin Pork Chops in Air Fryer

    • Pork Chops - Thin Cut. Quick-cooking and perfect for air frying, thin-cut chops stay juicy inside with a crisp, golden edge. Boneless or bone-in both work - just aim for around ½ inch thick.
    • Olive Oil. Helps the seasoning stick and gives those chops a gorgeous, lightly crispy finish. You can sub in vegetable or avocado oil if needed.
    • Brown Sugar. Adds a hint of sweetness and helps create that beautiful caramelized crust.
    • Smoked Paprika. Brings subtle smoky flavor and a rich color that makes the chops look as good as they taste.
    • Garlic Powder. Savory, bold, and always reliable - garlic powder gives depth without overpowering.
    • Onion Powder. Adds mellow, slightly sweet undertones that round out the spice blend.
    • Ground Pepper. Just enough kick to wake up the flavor.
    • Salt. Unlocks all that savory porky goodness - skip it and you’ll miss the magic.

How to Make Thin Pork Chops in Air Fryer

    1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F. This gives the basket time to heat up so those thin-cut pork chops start sizzling the second they hit the surface - which means better browning and a golden finish.
    2. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt. It’s a simple blend, but it brings big flavor - sweet, smoky, and perfectly savory.
    3. Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. This step helps them crisp up better (no soggy surfaces here). Rub both sides with olive oil, then coat generously with the seasoning mix. Get the edges, too - they deserve some love.

    1. Place the pork chops in a single layer in the air fryer basket - no stacking, no crowding. Air fry for 5 minutes, flip, and cook for another 4-6 minutes. Check for doneness with an instant-read thermometer: you’re aiming for 145°F in the thickest part.

    1. Pull them out and let them sit for 5 minutes. This keeps all those juices locked in and gives you pork chops that cut like butter and taste even better.

    FAQs

Can I use boneless chops instead of bone-in pork chops?

Yes! Boneless chops cook a bit faster, but both make tender pork chops with a golden-brown exterior if you keep an eye on the cooking time.

How do I know when the pork chops are done?

Use a meat thermometer or instant read thermometer for the best results. The internal temperature should hit 145 degrees F.

Can I make this air fryer pork chop recipe with thick pork chops?

You can, but you’ll need to increase the cook time and may want to lower the temperature slightly to avoid dry pork chops.

Is this recipe a good idea for a first time air fryer user?

Definitely. It’s simple, fast, and relies on pantry staples and simple seasonings - a perfect way to learn how to air fry pork chops without stress.

    Storage & Freezing

Storage: Leftover pork chops should be cooled completely, then stored in an airtight container in the fridge. They'll stay tender and tasty for up to 3 days - perfect for a second-round dinner or quick lunch.

Freezing: Want to freeze cooked pork for later? Let the chops cool, then wrap each one tightly in foil or plastic wrap and pop them into a freezer bag. They’ll keep for up to 3 months and reheat like a dream.

Reheating: To bring them back to life, reheat the pork chops in the air fryer at 350 degrees F. for 2-3 minutes until warmed through. This keeps that golden edge crisp without drying out the center.

Make Ahead: You can season the pork chops in advance and keep them in the fridge for up to 24 hours. It’s a great move for a busy weeknight - especially if you’ve already had a stare-down with the fridge at 5 PM.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Oil swap: No olive oil? Use avocado oil or a quick spritz of cooking spray to keep things crisp and light.
    • Sweetness substitution: Swap brown sugar for honey or maple syrup for that same caramelized edge with a little extra flair.
    • Seasoning shortcut: Out of garlic or onion powder? Use your go-to pork seasoning blend - just watch the salt.
    • Parmesan herb twist: Mix in parmesan cheese with dried basil or thyme for an herby, crispy crust that’s hard to beat.
    • Sweet and spicy version: Add cayenne to the rub and drizzle with honey after cooking. Boom - sweet heat.
    • Asian-inspired variation: Brush with soy sauce, add ground ginger to the mix, and serve with green beans or a simple salad.

    Pro Tips

    • Pat the pork chops dry. Removing surface moisture helps the seasoning stick and gives you that golden, crisp exterior. It’s a quick step that makes a big difference in texture.
    • Flip halfway through. Turning the chops means even cooking, but it also prevents one side from overcooking while the other plays catch-up.
    • Don’t overcrowd the basket. Space equals crispness. If the pork chops are too close, the hot air can’t circulate, and you’ll miss out on that crispy edge.
    • Use a meat thermometer. It’s the only way to nail the cook without cutting into the meat and letting all those juices escape.
    • What to serve with: These pork chops love good company - try them with Oven Roasted Green Beans, Instant Pot Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Frozen Garlic Bread in Air Fryer, Fall Apple Cranberry Pecan Salad, or Crinkle Cut Fries in Air Fryer for a fast, delicious dinner.
