Mind Blown, right? You came because you saw this super fun Oreo Rice Krispie Treats recipe and let me tell you, you need this recipe in your life. Not all Rice Krispie Treats are the same. Many are hard, so hard they will cut up the roof of your mouth. Not this recipe. Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are soft and a perfect balance of marshmallow with the added goodness of an Oreo Cookie.

Repeat after me, "Less is MORE". In a world where we all want more, it's a difficult concept to grasp but rest assured when making Rice Krispies it's important to recognize that less is best. Just because you can add more Rice Cereal doesn't mean you should. That is the key to a soft and yummy Rice Krispie Treat.
Oreo Rice Krispies have the added bonus of adding melted white chocolate chips. And a little goes a long way here. White Chocolate is a rich bold flavor, so ¼ cup will be perfect. They are easy to melt when you are melting the Marshmallows too.

I've tested this recipe many times so it's perfect and I've made it for hundreds this summer too. All with raving reviews and wanting more. Now it's time to share.
I always recommend using quality ingredients. Fresh Marshmallows make a huge difference. Do not buy a bag of marshmallows that are all stuck together like glue. Instead choose a bag where the marshmallows are separated from each other. Typically the bag has extra "air" as well to keep those wonderful little bites of heaven safe from being smashed and stuck together.
This recipe calls for Butter. Please don't cheat yourself and use Margarine it's not the same and doesn't work the same way either. Choosing a Rice Puff Cereal. You can have a little freedom here although I do prefer a name brand, the store brands work well too and will save you a little bit of money as well.

Ingredients in Oreo Rice Krispies
- Rice Puff Cereal
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- White Chocolate Chips
- Oreo Cookies
- Pinch of Salt
- Vanilla
How to Make Oreo Rice Krispies
In a large stock pot over medium heat add Butter. Allow butter to melt and add Marshmallows and White Chocolate Chips. Stir to coat marshmallows and white chocolate chips with butter and allow the heat to melt ingredients. Stirring will keep ingredients from sticking and burning to bottom of pan.

Remove from heat, stir Vanilla and Pinch of Salt then add Rice Puff Cereal when ingredients are melted. Stir with a large wooden spoon or spatula making sure all cereal is coated in marshmallow mixture.
Break up Oreo Cookies by hand. I like to make 3-5 pieces per cookie. Oreo Filling will naturally squeeze out and it's fine. Don't worry. Add ¾ of broken Oreos to Rice Krispie Mixture and gently stir. The filling will melt into the Krispies, it's fine and only adds to the goodness.

Spray an 8x8 pan with cooking spray and pour Rice Krispie Treats into pan. Now here is a trick. Wet your fingers with a little bit of water and shake it off. Use your moistened fingers to press the Krispies into the pan. Like Magic it won't stick!
Add remaining Oreo pieces on top and gently press. Allow to fully cool before cutting.
Oreo Rice Krispies are rich, so cut smaller pieces because that's all you will really want and you will save some for later which is my favorite too.

Haha! YES, Making Traditional Rice Krispie Treats would use this same recipe. Just omit the Oreos and White Chocolate Chips. Enjoy!

You of course can do anything you wish, however as I mentioned previously Margarine just isn't the same. I find Rice Krispie Treats get harder faster when using Margarine and the taste is a bit different too.

This recipe calls for a very small amount of White Chocolate Chip. Make sure to use a quality brand and not just a white chip with added flavor. True White Chocolate will melt where a white chip with added flavor tends to be chalky

YES, Yes, yes! Mix it up and try Golden Oreos, or even Peanut Butter Oreos. It's fun to test out new combinations.
