Some of my Most Frequently Asked Questions

How long to Cook Chicken Breasts in the Instant Pot

It's important for chicken to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees. I cook medium thickness chicken breasts , about 1 inch thick, for 12 minutes. If your chicken breast are larger fuller breasts, adding a couple extra minutes to ensure you reach the internal temperature is key.

Can I cook Chicken Breasts from Frozen in the Instant Pot?

Absolutely! That’s one of the coolest things about cooking in the Instant Pot. You can cook meat that’s raw and meat that’s frozen. This includes frozen chicken breasts! You can cook from frozen without any added steps.

You do NOT need to add additional time either. I know it sounds strange but no, you do not need to add additional time. The difference is how much time it takes to pressure up. Frozen Chicken will take longer to pressure up which adds to the cooking time.

How long to cook frozen chicken breasts in the Instant Pot?

The great thing about Instant Pot or Electric Pressure Cookers is that the time doesn’t change. It will, however, take longer to pressure up because the chicken is frozen. That said, even with the added time, this method of cooking frozen chicken is faster than the oven!

What is a Natural Pressure Release?

On every Instant Pot or Pressure Cooking Recipe you will find a step for Natural Pressure Release or Quick Release. Natural Pressure Release or NPR is allowing the Pressure Cooker to naturally release the pressure over time before opening up the remaining pressure.

This is ideal for meats to ensure the moisture.

Hi! You can always place the chicken on a trivet if you wish to keep the breasts out of the liquid.
