A number of years ago and one of Oprah's Favorite Things was this Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe. They also sold a Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate Mix you could make at home with a few added ingredients. I'm here to share with you, you don't need an expensive elite mix because I've got you covered with this easy to make recipe.
I laugh when I say Frozen Hot Chocolate, because how can you have something that is both Frozen AND Hot? But of course with Iced Coffee's, there is always room for frrrozen hot chocolate.
In more recent years one of my favorite Donut Shops has their own version. Dunkin Donuts Frozen Chocolate which is served with whipping cream and sprinkles. Soon after Dairy Queen Frozen Hot Chocolate also hit the menu board and now we have copycat recipes all around.
But wait, near and dear to my heart Disneyland also sells their own version of a Frozen Hot Chocolate and if you are able to get one, they come with a Mickey Mouse Jingle Bell Cube as seen in the photos. The cubes light up and come in a variety of colors too.
I think it makes a fantastic recipe even more magical when Mickey adds his personal touch. Disneyland Frozen Hot Cocoa will always be my favorite.
I'm thrilled to share with you my version of a drink you can enjoy all year round. It's just that good that you will crave it.

How to make Frozen Hot Chocolate
This recipe makes just enough for one tall glass, or two smaller portions (if you want to share). It's easy to double the recipe too.
Pour all the ingredients into the blender starting with Chocolate Milk, then adding Hot Cocoa Mix, Fudge Sauce, and Ice. Adding vanilla will enhance the flavors but is optional.
Now blend it all together on high speed until smooth, which takes about 45 seconds to 1 minute.
Let's focus on how you plan to garnish Dunkin Frozen Chocolate. There are so many options.
Blendtec Blender
I’m using the Blendtec Blender, which I love. It’s high power motor blends this dessert drink smooth. It even has a smoothie button preset which is perfect for this recipe.
Not to mention it also has a clean cycle button. Hello? Did you hear me? They have a clean cycle! It’s pure heaven. I love it.
I value that these blenders are used in Commercial Smoothie Stores. The motor is strong and holds up. With so many models available, you are sure to find one that fits your needs.
I am currently an Ambassador for Blendtec, which is GREAT news for you! Use my Custom Coupon Code and you can save 20% on your next purchase. Use Code DEVOURDINNER25.
**Please note, the promo code works for most anything on the site with the exception of the Pro Series blenders.
Garnish Ideas
- Whipped Topping
- Dusting of Cocoa Powder
- Chocolate Curls
- Sprinkles
- Hot Fudge Drizzle
- Marshmallows
A fun and easy garnish idea is to first dip the rim of the glass into chocolate syrup or fudge and then dip into sprinkles. It's easy to do and really makes a mug more festive if you ask me. The syrup will grab and hold onto the sprinkles and keep them in place.
Make your frozen drink even more special
Consider adding these to your Blendtec Blender when mixing:
- Crushed Candy Cane
- Andes Mints
- Peanut Butter Cups
- Mini Chocolate Chips
Have you ever tasted a chocolate shake or one of those Frosty’s from Wendy’s fast-food chain? Frozen hot chocolate tastes similar while still holding true to the flavors of a hot chocolate that you have come to know and love- only in the form of a frozen treat perfect for hot fall days!
Yes! This drink can be made gluten-free if you simply read labels and make sure that the ingredients you use are certified gluten-free or that they don’t have any cross-contamination warnings.
To make this frozen hot chocolate dairy-free, you can use chocolate-flavored almond milk or dairy-free chocolate syrup such as Hershey’s ice cream syrup.
Different chocolates may contain caffeine, so it is best to look at the labels before proceeding if you are trying to do this without any added caffeine.
No, but it should! Adding a splash of your favorite cold brew can really help to turn this from a cold hot chocolate to a delicious mocha.
