Let’s talk Circus Animal Sugar Cookies, aren’t they so cute?  Adorable if you ask me and the best part is you get a soft and chewy sugar Funfetti cookie with a favorite Circus Animal on top.   These cookies flew off the plate and into the hands, both young and old, at our last gathering.  I wished I had made more.

    Circus Animal Cookies

Soft and Chewy Sugar Cookies are a dream come true.  There is a trick to making the perfect cooking though and I’ve got the secret for you.  The recipe calls for a combination of ingredients from white sugar to powdered sugar and butter to vegetable oil.  You need them all to create this amazing soft cookie.

This cookie recipe is used for a number of my favorite cookies.  Having a base cookie recipe is a must and with a few simple changes you have a completely different cookie each and every time.

How to make Circus Animal Sugar Cookies

For most baking recipes it’s best to preheat your oven, and this recipe is no different.  So go ahead and preheat to 350 degrees.

    Sugar Cookies in Bosch Mixer

I prefer to use my Bosch Universal Stand Mixer when making cookies.  It cleans up easily and mixes up perfectly every time.  You can also use a hand mixer if you prefer and a large bowl.  Make sure to see why I LOVE my Bosch Mixer.

Add softened butter and white sugar and cream for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.  Then mix in powdered sugar, cream of tartar, and baking soda and mixed until combined.  Add the egg, oil, and vanilla and mix until smooth.  You might need to scrape down the sides of the bowl.  Add flour 1 cup at a time and make sure dough is all mixed together.  Then stir in sprinkles.

Using a Medium Cookie Scoop, size #24, scoop cookie dough and place on large cookie sheet about 2 inch apart. Bake at 350 Degrees for 7-9 minutes or under edges turn a light golden color.  Do not over bake cookies.

Remove from oven.  Immediately place 1 Circus Animal Cookie on top of HOT cookies.  Pressing down slightly.  Allow to cool on cookie sheet for 2-4 minutes before removing rookies and placing on wire rack to cool completely.  About 15 minutes.

Hot cookies will melt frosting on Circus Animal Cookies.  As the cookies cool, so will the frosting and the Circus Animal will stick to cookie.

    Can I double Cookie Recipe?

Absolutely, yes!  This recipe is a small batch and works perfectly to double recipe.

Can I freeze Circus Animal Sugar Cookies?

Yes.  Freezing cookies is a great way to save for later and keep them fresh.  Freeze in a large Ziploc bag or container.

Where can I find Circus Animal Cookies?

Circus Animal Cookies are made by Mother’s Cookies and are typically found in the cookie aisle of the grocery store.  There are a number of off brands that make a similar frosted animal cookie too.

How does the Circus Animal Cookie stick to Sugar Cookie?

The magic of science!  A hot cookie fresh out of the oven will melt the icing on the Circus Animal Cookie.  This will ensure the cookie will stick to the fresh baked cookie when cooled.

Animal cookies or crackers have been around since the 1800's in Europe, this was long before Nabisco began making these classic cookie crackers that we know today.
