Ingredients Needed for Air Fryer Stuffed Mushrooms

    • White Mushrooms / Baby Portobello Mushrooms. These whole mushrooms have the perfect shape for stuffing. You can also use cremini mushrooms or larger mushrooms like portobello.
    • Spinach Artichoke Dip. A rich, creamy filling that pairs perfectly with the crispy texture of the mushroom caps. Use store-bought or make your favorite recipe from scratch.
    • Parmesan Cheese. Adds a nutty, savory flavor and helps create a golden brown topping. Cheddar cheese or a mix of cheeses can also work.
    • Panko Bread Crumbs. These light, crispy bread crumbs give the tops of the mushrooms the perfect crunch. Substitute with regular bread crumbs if needed.
    • Olive Oil. Helps prevent soggy mushrooms by creating a crisp, golden exterior.
    • Garlic Herb Blend Seasonings (Weber Brand). Enhances the stuffing ingredients with a bold, garlicky flavor. Italian seasoning or a mix of garlic powder and onion powder can be used instead.

How to Make Air Fryer Stuffed Mushrooms

    1. Set your air fryer to 350°F and let it preheat for 5 minutes. This ensures even cooking and helps create that delicious golden brown color on the mushroom caps.
    2. Carefully remove the mushroom stems, creating a perfect little mushroom cavity for the filling. Use a damp cloth or a damp paper towel to clean mushrooms and remove any loose dirt—don’t rinse them under cold water, or you’ll end up with soggy mushrooms!

    1. Lightly wipe each mushroom cap with olive oil, ensuring they’re evenly coated for a rich, golden brown finish. This helps lock in moisture while crisping up the outside for the perfect texture.

    1. Sprinkle each cap with Garlic Herb Blend Seasonings, letting those bold, garlicky flavors soak in. A little seasoning goes a long way in making these stuffed mushrooms extra delicious!

    1. Then, fill each cap generously with Spinach Artichoke Dip—about 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons—making sure the filling is slightly overflowing for maximum flavor.

    FAQs

Can I use different types of mushrooms for this recipe?

Yes! White button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, and baby bellas all work great. If you want a heartier option, larger mushrooms like portobello mushrooms can be used—just increase the cook time slightly.

How do I keep the mushrooms from getting soggy?

Avoid washing them under cold water—mushrooms absorb moisture quickly! Instead, clean mushrooms with a damp cloth or damp paper towel to remove loose dirt without making them waterlogged.

Can I make these stuffed mushrooms in a conventional oven instead of an air fryer?

Absolutely! Bake them at 375°F for about 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. The air fryer speeds up the cooking process, but a conventional oven still delivers delicious results.

What are some other filling options besides spinach artichoke dip?

Mix cream cheese with cheddar cheese, use Italian sausage, ground sausage, or even crab meat for a seafood twist. You can also make a vegetarian version with extra cheese and finely chopped mushroom stems.

How do I keep the mushrooms from tipping over in the air fryer?

Create aluminum foil "logs" by rolling up pieces of foil and placing them between the stuffed mushrooms. This helps keep them upright during the air frying process.

    Storage & Freezing

Storage: Leftover air fryer stuffed mushrooms should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They stay fresh for up to 3 days, but for the best texture, enjoy them as soon as possible.

Freezing: For longer storage, place the cooled stuffed mushrooms in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Then, transfer them to a freezer bag or air-tight container. They’ll stay good for up to 2 months!

Reheating: To bring back that crispy texture, reheat the mushrooms in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes. You can also warm them in a conventional oven at 375°F for about 10 minutes. Avoid microwaving, as it can make them soft and soggy.

Make Ahead: Want to prep these ahead of time? Assemble the mushrooms, but don’t air fry them yet. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours, then cook them fresh when ready to serve for the best flavor and texture.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Mushrooms. White button mushrooms, baby bellas, or cremini mushrooms work great, but if you want a heartier bite, try using larger mushrooms like portobello mushrooms.
    • Filling. Not a fan of spinach artichoke dip? Mix cream cheese with cheddar cheese for a rich, cheesy filling, or try Italian sausage, crab meat, or ground sausage for a protein-packed twist.
    • Breadcrumbs. Panko breadcrumbs create a crispy texture, but you can swap them for regular bread crumbs or a low-carb alternative like crushed pork rinds.
    • Cheese. Parmesan cheese adds a nutty, salty bite, but feel free to use a mix of cheddar cheese, mozzarella, or even feta for a different flavor.
    • Seasoning. Garlic Herb Blend Seasonings give these mushrooms a bold flavor, but you can also use Italian seasoning, onion powder, or black pepper for a simple, delicious variation.
    • Drizzle. Want to take these to the next level? A light balsamic vinegar drizzle or a sprinkle of green onions adds a pop of flavor and color!

    Pro Tips

    • Prevent Soggy Mushrooms. Mushrooms hold a lot of moisture, so the best way to avoid soggy mushrooms is to clean them with a damp cloth instead of rinsing under water. Also, letting them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before air frying helps release excess moisture.
    • Keep Them From Tipping Over. Stuffed mushrooms can be a little wobbly in the air fryer. To keep them from falling over, use aluminum foil "logs" by crumpling up small pieces of foil and placing them between the mushrooms for extra support.
    • Customize the Filling. This is one of those recipes where you can really play with flavors! Swap the spinach artichoke dip for a mix of cream cheese and cheddar cheese, or try stuffing them with Italian sausage, crab meat, or ground sausage for a protein boost.
    • Don’t Overcrowd the Basket. To get that golden brown color and crispy texture, place the mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding can trap steam and lead to soft, soggy mushrooms instead of delicious air fryer perfection.
    • What to Serve With These Mushrooms. These stuffed mushrooms make a perfect party appetizer on their own, but they’re even better alongside other delicious appetizers like crispy air fryer zucchini fries, a charcuterie board, or a side of balsamic vinegar for dipping. They’re also a great addition to a dinner party spread!
