What Is Hershey Symphony Chocolate?
Hershey Symphony bars are a smoother, creamier version of traditional Hershey milk chocolate. They melt beautifully and have a slightly richer texture, which makes them perfect for desserts like this chocolate pie.
You can usually find them in the candy aisle near standard Hershey bars. They also come in varieties like almond and toffee which can add a fun twist to this recipe.

This pie checks every box.
Ingredint Roll Call
- Hershey Symphony chocolate bars
- Whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

That’s it. Nothing complicated. Nothing fussy.
You won't believe this, but this pie is a great pie to teach those who might be hesitant to be in the kitchen. This Symphony Pie Recipe is fool proof!
How to Make Hershey Symphony Pie
- Melt the Symphony chocolate bars until smooth.
- Gently fold in whipped topping.
- Spread into graham cracker crust.
- Chill until set.
- Top with any reserved whipped topping
- Garnish with Chocolate Shavings
- Freeze for 2 hours or up to 3 months
That’s the whole process.

Melting Chocolate in Microwave:
Break up your kingsize Symphony bar into small pieces into a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds and stir. Then another 15 seconds and stir and repeat. Don’t over cook.
It will be lumpy because of the toffee bits in this candy bar. That’s okay!

Can I Use Other Candy Bars?
Yes! But here’s what to know.
Symphony bars melt smoother than standard milk chocolate, which gives this pie its silky texture.
You can substitute:
- Regular Hershey milk chocolate bars
- Semi-sweet chocolate
- Ghirardelli bars
- Even chocolate chips
- Mr. Good Bar
- Kit Kat (chopped up)
But the texture may be slightly firmer.
If you love the extra creaminess, stick with Symphony.
Can I Make This with Cool Whip?
Yes. This recipe is designed for whipped topping like Cool Whip.
If you prefer homemade whipped cream, you can use stabilized whipped cream instead.

I have to admit, when I told my son I was making this pie he said “Mom, that’s hardly a recipe”… I laughed! He is right. This is hardly a recipe and that is what is so great about it.

There are several kinds and sizes of Symphony bars. Can you please tell me the weight and if they should be plain or include nuts. Thanks!
Devour Dinner
I use a kingsize bar 4.25ounces. Any variety of bar will work but I do love the one with nuts and toffee bits. Just a personal preference.
Brittany
I forgot about pi day! That is one thing I love about pies, they don't have to be super complex. This looks so easy and my hubby loves candy bars.
