Mushroom and Onion Bites
With only a few simple ingredients you can quickly make Caramelized Mushroom and Onion Bites. Have you seen Phyllo shells in the freezer section of your grocery store?
They are located by the puff pastry and often times frozen pies. These pastry shells are pre-baked, which means you don’t need to do anything except fill them! Hooray for easy an Appetizers recipe!
How to make Caramelized Onion and Mushroom Bites
- I start by Sautéing the mushrooms in a hot pan with some butter. But don’t forget to wash your vegetables. Choose small button mushrooms and I like to remove the stems. Personal preference really. 😉
- Coat the mushrooms in onions and stir, the mushrooms will reduce down (become smaller in size) and more tender. Then remove them from the heat and set aside.
- In the same frying pan add a little more butter and sliced onions and stir. I like to cook onions over medium heat as it slows the cooking process down and allows the wonderful flavors to come out. YUM!
- Once the onions are ready, add the sugar and balsamic vinegar and stir. Add in Mushrooms and stir. These will quickly caramelize so watch your heat. Slow is good!
