    Bacon Onion Appetizer Recipe

    Sweet and Savory Maple Bacon and Onion Appetizer Served with a Cream Cheese Spread on a Toasted Bread

    Ingredients

    • 1 Sweet Onion
    • 2 Tbs Butter
    • 6 Slices Cooked Bacon
    • 2 Tbs Maple Sugar
    • 1 Tbs Sugar
    • 4 oz Cream Cheese
    • Toasted Bagel Chips - any Variety

    Instructions

    • Slice Onion. In a hot frying pan add butter and melt. Add Onions and Saute' until tender.
    • Prepare Bacon by brushing with Maple Syrup.
    • Chop Bacon into small pieces and set aside
    • Toast Bagel Chips or French Baguette under Broiler for 2 minutes
    • Spread with Cream Cheese Spread
    • Add Sugar to Onions and Stir. Add Bacon Pieces to cooked Onions and stir.
    • Spoon 1-2 teaspoon filling onto toasted bread and serve warm

    Notes

    Make Bacon Onion Appetizers with either Bagel Chips or a sliced French Baguette.
    Hint: Cook Bacon in the Oven. It keeps bacon from curling up and you will have a nice flat piece of bacon. See How to Bake Bacon.
