How does an Air Fryer Cook?
An Air Fryer is different from a toaster oven in that hot air circulates throughout. The air fryer basket has holes for air to circulate from the top, down through the bottom and back up which cooks food from all sides.
The basket can be coated with Olive Oil Spray or Avocado Spray to prevent sticking. Or try parchment paper with holes. Using a solid piece of parchment paper or foil will prevent the air to flow freely and cook food properly.
For some recipes its necessary to use a preheated air fryer like you would an oven. I find many favorite recipes not needing to preheat which is ideal for quick recipes like frozen veggies, french fries, or even Pizza Bagel Bites.

Mary
Yum, Yum! I watched you make this on your Sunday Live Demo a couple of weeks ago. The Single layer is perfect for a serving for one person! (Like me!) It also makes a good topper for a baked potato! I used the same degree 400° to make the potato in the air Fryer. Took the potato out, put the broccoli in and voila - 8 minutes later - broccoli nice and tender, the way I like it. Thanks again for a great recipe, Rebecca!
