No Knead Artisan Bread is amazingly delicious. With only 4 ingredients it's easy to make and perfect for so many meals.

Flaky Crust with soft bread inside is a must recipe that everyone needs.

Although this recipe for No Knead Artisan Bread takes time, it does not take work and the flaky chewy crust with the soft moist insides are all worth the wait in the end.

Not to mention, it's just so darn pretty!

    No Knead Artisan Bread

I love my Bosch Mixer and use it often, however I'll set that aside to make this Artisan Bread Recipe because it's just so simple.

Don't be fooled, simple does not mean quick. But it's so simple my kids and throw it together when they want fresh bread later for me to bake.

    Let's Get Started!

What's in No Knead Artisan Bread?

There are 4 simple ingredients. Yes.. Only 4!

    • 3 Cups Flour
    • ½ teaspoon Salt
    • ½ teaspoon Quick Rising Yeast
    • 1 ½ Cup Warm Water
    No Knead Artisan Bread

How to make No Knead Artisan Bread

    • In a bowl place flour, salt and yeast. Stir so that the yeast and salt are mixed in
    • Add Warm Water. I tend to use water that is a bit warmer than warm but not steaming hot. You get the idea.
    • With a spoon, Stir! Stir to combine.
    • You will have some flour that doesn't mix in, I then use a clean hand and mix everything until all flour is absorbed and I can make a ball out of it. Trust me, it's still sticks to my fingers.
    • Cover with plastic wrap and then place a towel on top.
    • Let it rest for 8 hours or over night
    • In the morning preheat oven to 450 degrees
    • When oven is hot place Dutch Oven to head for 15 minutes
    • While Dutch Oven is heating, flour your counter top and dump out dough mixture
    • Use flour to sprinkle on top, so that you can handle the dough easier. DO NOT KNEAD DOUGH
    • The dough will be super sticky and super soft and won't hold its shape well at all. This is normal.
    • Carefully place dough in Hot Dutch Oven and place lid on top.
    • Place in oven and allow to bake for 30 minutes
    • Then remove lid and bake an additional 15 minutes
    • Remove from oven and allow to cool
    • Slice and eat

    Proofing Artisan Bread Overnight Method

Proofing Dough in your Instant Pot / Pressure Cooker

I LOVE this tip for yeast recipes. It truly does cut your time in half when it comes to proofing your dough. This recipe can take 8 hours to proof the dough. Want to speed it up?

Use the Yogurt button on low and a glass lid on top. Now, this dough is super sticky.

I mean SUPER Sticky. So take a piece of parchment paper and place flour on it before placing dough on the parchment paper.

You can also spray the inside if your Pressure Cooker liner and place your dough right in.

Keep in mind. When the dough comes out it will be sticky and you will need to use a rubber spatula to get it all out.

This is very normal and just fine. Both processes will take 3 ½ hours. So sit back and relax

Dutch Oven with Artisan Bread Inside

What kind of Dutch Oven can I use?

This is a great question. You need a pan with a lid. So even grandma's old roast pan with a lid will work.

I do Love a good cast iron dutch oven or even a ceramic dutch oven.

The heavier the pot the better I find as it makes the crust just so flaky and chewy and perfect.

I'm using a pan from Anolon and really enjoy using it.

It's a cast iron dutch oven with lid and of course there are plenty of recipes you can use a pan like this for. This pan shown is a 5qt round dutch oven.

    Artisan Bread in Dutch Oven

A Cast Iron Dutch Oven is really worth the investment, personally I have many many camping dutch ovens that we use outdoors and with charcoal.

Those can also be used in your oven, although they don't look as pretty. They work amazingly well.

I enjoy my inside 5qt Round Dutch Oven from Anolon as it's so pretty and works so well in the kitchen.

Can I make Variations to No Knead Artisan Bread?

Yes of course you can! The sky is the limit. I have a number of Artisan Bread Recipes coming so stay tuned.

They range from sweet to savory and all use this same base no knead artisan bread recipe.

    Notes

I find it's easy mix up this recipe before I go to bed and allow to sit over night or up to 12 hours before baking. Can also be made in the morning and baked before dinner too.
Speed up Proofing your Dough! Use a Pressure Cooker or Instant Pot
Use the Yogurt button on low and a glass lid on top. Now, this dough is super sticky. I mean SUPER Sticky. So take a piece of parchment paper and place flour on it before placing your dough on the parchment paper. Then place into the Pressure Cooker. You can also spay the inside of the liner with cooking spray and place your dough right down inside. Keep in mind with either process the dough is going to stick and you will need a rubber spatula to get it off. Once dough has proofed, place on floured surface so you can handle the dough and follow the baking directions.

Where do you let it rest? On the counter or the refrigerator?
