Apple Crisp is a timeless classic dessert that brings you the Best flavors of spices, oats and cooked apples. One of my most very favorites is the Betty Crocker Apple Crisp Recipe that I learned how to make at a very young age. Using Granny Smith apples makes this Apple Crisp Recipe a delicious tart and sweet crisp recipe.

    Betty Crocker Apple Crisp

This incredible dessert is simple and easy to throw together. You can have it prepped and cooking within minutes!

You can use any type of baking apples or any combination of them that you prefer, but I honestly love Granny Smiths.

They hold up well to the baking and give that perfect sweet and sour flavor that counterbalances the sweet oat toppings and sugars in this dish.

    Betty Crocker Apple Crisp

I love making this easy apple crisp recipe because it’s much less work than making an apple pie and it has a lot less dirty dishes created too (and who doesn’t love that?)

Not to mention, adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping to a warm plate of this Betty Crocker Classic Recipe and your a hit.

What's in Betty Crocker Apple Crisp?

    • 4 - 5 Granny Smith Apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
    • 4 Tbs Sugar
    • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
    • ½ cup water
    • 1 Cup Rolled Old Fashioned Oats
    • ¾ Cup Brown Sugar
    • ⅓ Cup Flour
    • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
    • ¼ teaspoon Ginger
    • ⅓ Cup Butter (Cold)
    Sliced Apples

How to make Instant Pot Apple Crisp?

    • Peel and core your apples. Leaving half the apples with peels will help keep the shape and texture of the apples when cooking in the Pressure Cooker.
    • Slice apples into wedges and cut each wedge into 3 or 4 chunks.
    • Place your apples to the bottom of a pressure cooker.
    • Add in sugar and cinnamon, and then toss to coat.
    • Add in the water.
    • In a separate bowl, combine your oats, brown sugar, flour, and spices, mixing to combine.
    • Take a cold stick of butter and run it over a cheese grater. Add those butter shavings to the oat mixture with a pastry mixer or a fork to combine the ingredients and make the crumble.
    • Add the crumble over the top of the apples.
    • Set your pressure cooker to manual/pressure cook for 1 minute. Allow for up to 5-minute natural release. The longer you Natural Pressure Release the softer the Apples will be.
    • Open and serve your apple crisp while it’s hot and add a dollop of whipped cream or scoop of ice cream if you choose.

Easy Instant Pot Apple Crisp Story

Optionally, you can place your apple crisp under the CrispLid air fryer to crisp the crumble topping if desired, or place it in the oven under broil for a few minutes to toast the top. Use code DEVOURDINNER at checkout for $10 off your CrispLid purchase

    What is a CrispLid?

A CrispLid fits on any 6 or 8qt Pressure Cooker and will turn it into an Air Fryer. Oh it's wonderful and I use it for so many recipes. Make sure to take a look at my review on the Mealthy CrispLid.

    How to reheat Apple Crisp?

Apple crisp tastes good warm and cold, but if you want to reheat it I can’t blame you.

Unlike other foods, it can handle being reheated and taste great regardless.

You can portion out a plate (or bowl) full and microwave it until it’s warm or transfer it to a baking dish and heat it in the oven for a few minutes (about 15) until the apple crisp is thoroughly reheated and warm throughout.

How long does Apple Crisp last?

When kept in a tightly covered container in the fridge, your leftover apple crisp can last up to 4 days and still taste great.

What to serve with Apple Crisp Recipe?

I already mentioned how great this recipe pairs with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping, but it also will make you lick your lips when drizzled with caramel sauce too.

It’s a fairly simple dish that honestly doesn’t need to be served with anything extra to feel like it's complete.

How to make Apple Crisp in the Oven?

If you choose to make this recipe in the oven instead of your instant pot, you can make it exactly as directed, omitting the water.

Then place it in the oven at 350 degrees until the apples are soft (about 40 minutes).

        Hi Donna,
I prefer Granny Smith Apples because they are crisp and tart and add great flavor. A Red Delicious Apple could be used, however they are a more mild flavor and tend to be a little softer of an apple overall.

All over the Internet, many sites say that Red or Yellow Delicious apples are fine. However, I would use a crisp "pie" apple, but not red delicious. I think it would turn out like applesauce crisp. I wonder if you tried it and how it turned out!
I would suggest Jonagold, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, and Pink Lady. I also like to put in a combination of apples.
