Creamy melted Peanut Butter with perfectly toasted bread makes Air Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich delicious.

Back in the day, when I was a teenager my friend April and I would spilt a hot ooey gooey Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich whenever we went to Fentons Ice Cream Shop in Oakland, California.

    PB&J Sandwich

We LOVED the melted Peanut Butter with warm Jelly and every bite was mouthful of delicious. It was a tradition that we kept for years and I have to admit. As an adult going back to Fentons for my favorite Black and Tan Sundae, I still love to get a hot ooey gooey Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.

Why Grill or Air Fry a PB&J?

Isn't it obvious? Well, maybe I need to convince you. PB&J is a popular school lunch sandwich many kids enjoy day in and day out. It's just good! So why not grill it or Air Fry it, to toast the bread and melt the peanut butter, right? Well, that's not all.

The jelly becomes a perfect counterpart to the Peanut Butter and the two combined create this goodness of delicious. I'm telling you, just try it. You will feel like a school kid again, but so much better!

How to Grill a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

I won't bore you with the proper technique of making a PB&J, or will I? Spread a layer of Peanut Butter (I prefer creamy) on one slice of bread. On the other slice of bread spread your favorite jelly. Yes, it' important to spread jelly on the other slice of bread and not directly on the Peanut Butter. This gives you the best spreading possible. Trust me.

I personally love Grape Jelly, however this recipe is amazing with Strawberry Jam and even better with a Homemade Strawberry Jam that I make in my Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker.

Lightly butter the outsides of your bread sandwich and place on a heated frying pan or griddle. Allow to cook until bread is toasted and flip over.

Slice in half and enjoy! But make sure you have napkins handy because the Peanut Butter will slip out before you know it.

Can I make a Grilled PB&J in an Air Fryer?

Oh YES! Of course you can and in fact, it's my NEW Favorite snack. Make your Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich just like you would to cook on the stove, except place your Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich in the Ary Fryer Basket on Parchment Paper.

    PB&J in CrispLid Air Fryer

Set your Air Fryer to 375 Degrees for 3 minutes and flip over. Repeat for 3 more minutes. You now have a PERFECTLY Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich and it's delicious!

Here's a tip, you can make a Grilled Cheese Sandwich the same way in an Air Fryer too! And who doesn't love Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. I sure do.

    CrispLid by Mealthy

A CrispLid will turn any Pressure Cooker, any Brand, size 6qt or 8qt into an air fryer. I am in LOVE with this simple Accessory for my Pressure Cookers. It’s only slightly larger than the lid to the pressure cooker and cleans easily too.

    PB&J Fun Fact

Back in 1901 it's rumored that Julia Davis Chandler published the first reference of Peanut Butter paired with Jelly on bread. By the late 1920s, as the sandwich became more popular and the price of peanut butter declined it moved down the social classes and everyone enjoyed this delicious sandwich.

Hi Lyndsay! I hope you enjoyed your PB&J! I use parchment paper to keep the area clean as the peanut butter melts it can get messy. The paper is for easy clean-up!
