French Toast
My mouth waters when I hear French Toast, does yours? I love to serve with fresh berries, sweet syrup and whipping cream. But a simple touch of butter and powder sugar is also among my favorites too. I prefer using Texas Toast when making French Toast for it's thick slices of bread. It also absorbs the egg and milk mixture nicely without falling apart.
Did you know that French Toast was first made my medieval European Cooks when trying to feed their families? It's true, they needed to use every bit of food they had to feed their families and they knew using day old bread dipped in milk and egg would soften the bread and make a meal. Now you know!
Whats the Difference between Eggy Bread and French Toast?
Eggy Bread is often a more savory dish where French Toast is definitely served sweet with syrup and whipping cream. Regardless both Eggy Bread which is most common in the United Kingdom and French Toast are very similar.
