My only complaint in life is Corn season doesn’t last long enough. I tend to over indulge when the Corn truck comes and sits on the street corner selling the harvest from that day. There is no excuse to not use the Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker when making corn, unless you have another recipe in it. Then I have a solution for you. Air Fryer Corn on the Cob! I’m serious. I’ve got you covered. It’s just as quick and easy to Air Fry as it is to Instant Pot or Pressure Cook this tasty vegetable.
How to make Instant Pot Corn on the Cob
You don’t need much for this recipe so lets get started. Husk corn and remove all silk. Give it a good wash. Add 1 cup of water to a 6qt Instant Pot or 1 ½ Cup to an 8qt Instant Pot and 1 Tablespoon Sugar (optional). Place Corn Cobs on Trivet. Corn can be stacked on top of each other if needed and can be cut in half too.
Pressure Cook on High for 2 Minutes and release the pressure. Unschucked Corn cooks for 3-4 minutes with a quick pressure release.
Carefully remove hot corn and rub 1 Tablespoon butter on each ear. Season with Salt and Pepper.

Adding Sugar to Corn
I have always boiled corn in water with just a little bit of sugar to help bring out the natural sweet flavors. When testing this out in the Instant Pot, I have not noticed a big difference between corn pressure cooked with sugar added in the water vs corn pressure cook without adding sugar. So it's purely optional. It certainly doesn't hurt.
Additional Seasoning Ideas
- Spicy: add a sprinkle of Paprika and Cayenne along with Butter.
- Cilantro Lime: Melt butter and add 1 teaspoon lime juice. Drizzle over corn and garnish with chopped cilantro. It's also excellent with some powered parmesan too.
- Sweetest: Melt Butter and add 1 teaspoon sugar. Stir to combine and drizzle over corn.
- Mayonnaise and Elote Seasoning

Corn on the Cob doesn't need anything other than Butter, Salt and Pepper to bring out the natural flavors. But trust me when I tell you to give some of these additional seasoning ideas a try! Oh, they are good!

Why is my Sweet Corn tough?
Corn begins to dry out shortly after it's picked which makes kernels tough. Keep corn cobs cool until ready to eat to help prevent drying out. It's always best to store in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
