Did you know you can make Brown Rice in the Instant Pot? You can and it's so easy. Instant Pot Brown Rice is a great dish to serve with just about anything and so much more healthy too.
Brown Rice can often be seen as a tricky thing to cook, this method is foolproof. Cooking your Brown Rice in the Instant Pot is really easy and gives you fluffy perfectly cooked rice every time.
Serve Instant Pot Brown Rice with anything and everything just like I would white rice. In case you need to cook Instant Pot White Rice, I've got you covered with this simple recipe too.
I also love that Brown Rice has added health benefits, which makes me feel better about serving it to everyone. And don't forget to use leftover rice to make Fried Rice the next day.
As always, rinse the rice before cooking to remove the excess starches. It's a simple process and really does make a difference. Then it's as simple as throwing the rice in the Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker with the appropriate amount of water.
The hardest part is waiting until it’s done cooking because having patience is hard. But while it’s cooking you can be working on the other meal components as a distraction. That’s what I like to do. 😉

How to cook Instant Pot Brown Rice?
- Rinse your rice under water, washing off all excess starch. Continue until the water runs clear.
- Place 1 cup of rice and 1 ¼ cup water in the Instant Pot with a pinch of salt.
- Set it to Pressure Cook / Manual Mode High Pressure for 22 minutes with a 10 minute Natural Release.
- Open the lid and then fluff the rice with a fork.
Why do I need to rinse rice first?
Rinsing rice helps to remove the excess starches. This keeps your rice from becoming sticky once cooked and allows it to be perfectly textured and cooked once finished. It’s an optional step but it’s one that really makes a difference!
Why does Brown Rice Cook Longer?
Brown rice takes longer to cook because of its harder outer bran coating. This is one of the reasons why it needs more water to cook too. It helps to soften the coating and fluff the rice.
What are the benefits of Brown Rice?
Brown rice is higher in fiber and helps to lower cholesterol. It helps to keep you regular (if you know what I mean) and helps to make your stomach feel full.
It can also help to prevent the formation of some blood clots. It’s also a low glycemic index food so it’s preferred by the diabetes community because it’s easier on their diets.
Can I eat Brown Rice Every day?
Brown Rice is a great rice option for many diet conscious people. It has a lower effect on blood sugars and comes with a lot of health benefits.
Eating it every day isn’t recommended because too much of anything can be a bad thing that said, you can enjoy it frequently and in a wide range of dishes.
Is cooking Instant Pot Brown Rice Easier than on the stove?
A million times yes. Coking your Brown Rice in the Instant Pot almost guarantees you a fresh and fluffy batch of rice. Cooking it on the stove can always be a tricky challenge!
Not to mention, cooking in the Instant Pot means you don’t have to watch a pot. It does everything for you and all you have to do is wait.
