Creamed Peas and Potatoes in the Instant Pot is a delicious Side Dish Recipe you will love. Living in Idaho for the past 20+ years, I've fallen in love with potatoes, specifically New Potatoes or the small baby potatoes. They are so tender and soft and full of flavor. The potato skins are so thin and tender you won't even need to peel them in this recipe.

I never grew up eating Creamed Peas and Potatoes, but it's a recipe I've grown to enjoy because of where I live. It's easy enough to make in the Instant Pot which is fantastic and I can't wait to show you all the tips and tricks for the perfect Creamed Peas and Potatoes Recipe.

The recipe is very similar to Creamed Peas. Okay, it's really the same basic recipe just more of it! Peas are not everyone's favorite vegetable. My own mother doesn't care for peas and she loves ALL Vegetables. My advice to you is to be thrilled when others don't love it, it means more for YOU!

    • Butter - Salted Butter
    • Flour - All Purpose Flour
    • Salt and Pepper
    • Onion - Grated

Pretty easy to make is you ask me but here are a few FAQ's just to help you out just in case!

Can I cut up larger potatoes instead of using New Potatoes?

Yes you can! Cut into 1 inch cubes. You will want to use about a pound and a half

    Fresh, Frozen or Canned Peas?

You can use either Fresh, Frozen or Canned Peas. I prefer using Fresh or Frozen for best results. Canned peas tend to be very soft and get smashed

Can I use all Milk or all Heavy Cream?

Of course you can, however I find a combination of both milk and Heavy Cream is a good balance of creaminess and still lowers the calories a bit.

    Optional Add-ins

I do love to add Parmesan Cheese and fresh herbs. You can also add finely grated onion to give a deeper flavor.

      5 stars
Seriously a great tasting, quick side dish. I had a ham steak I wanted to cook yet I was bored with my usual mashed, baked or scalloped potatoes sides with ham. Searched for a veggie side with potatoes and this sounded so good. I’ve never eaten creamed peas so I had no idea what to expect. This is my new fave side dish that covers my potato craving and is healthy using peas. Very silky, creamy smooth and love the half & half versus heavy cream. Lots of possibilities, add diced or crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, thin sliced carrots…yum and thanks.
