Air Fryer cornbread cooks in about 14 minutes and comes out soft in the center with perfectly golden edges. After years of recipe testing, I know this method works reliably across different air fryer models, so you can count on consistent results whether you’re serving it with Instant Pot Chili or a family BBQ. Simple, dependable, and delicious. That’s my kind of side dish.

Jiffy Cornbread Mix recipe is a favorite. It’s inexpensive, and makes the perfect size batch for the Air Fryer. I’ll help you dress up this simple boxed mix and make a memorable cornbread you will go back for. Delicious Jiffy Cornbread in air fryer recipe you will love.

How Long to Cook Cornbread in an Air Fryer?

Cornbread cooks in an air fryer at 310F degrees for about 14 minutes depending on the size of the pan.

Ingredient Roll Call for Jiffy Cornbread with Corn

    • Jiffy Cornbread Mix – A pantry staple that gives the classic sweet flavor and fluffy texture we love.
    • Egg – Helps bind the batter and adds richness.
    • Milk – Keeps the crumb soft and tender; whole milk works best.
    • Whole Kernel Corn – Adds moisture, sweetness, and pops of texture in every bite.
    • Butter – A finishing touch that melts right in, adding that irresistible shine and flavor.

    Kitchen Must Haves

    • Air Fryer - I love my Cosori Air Fryer. It's user friendly and has a large basket
    • Pan – Use a pan that fits into the air fryer. I used an 8inch springform pan. A 6inch springform pan will also work. Try a Bundt Pan, Bundt Pans work very well in the Air Fryer because there is a hole in the center of the pan which helps the cooking process to cook more evenly.
    • Mixing Bowl – I love my Glass Pyrex mixing bowls.

How to make Air Fryer Cornbread

Preheat Air Fryer to 310 degrees for 5 minutes.

In a mixing bowl combine dry ingredients, a Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix with egg and milk.  I also like to add whole kernel corn which truly makes Jiffy cornbread better if you ask me. It gives wonderful texture to a cornbread recipe. Mix everything together and put my prepared mix into a greased baking pan.

    Add corn to cornbread mix

Air Fry for 14-15 minutes. Baking time can vary depending on pan size and thickness. Always make sure a toothpick comes out clean. Add additional time as needed.

Melt 1-2 Tablespoons butter over hot cornbread. The melted butter will absorb into the hot bread recipe and will be delicious.

Melt Butter on top of baked Cornbread

Making Cornbread in Air Fryer is just that simple. It only takes 90 seconds or less to mix up and throw into the Air Fryer. There is really no reason to forget a side dish with dinner when you have a recipe like this one.

I love to serve cornbread with Baked Beans, Taco Salad, or even an afternoon snack! It’s a quick and easy LESS THAN 30 minute recipe for Air Fryer cornbread Recipe

Silicone Muffin Liners – Optional. Just another way to bake Cornbread in Air Fryer.

Kitchen Secrets for Making Cornbread in Air Fryer

Choosing a proper pan for the Air Fryer is a must. I use an 8 in spring form pan. A Bunt Pan also works really well because of the hole in the center of the pan. You do not want a pan that is filled to the top with batter or it will never cook all the way through.

How to Make Box Cornbread Better

It's easy to enhance the flavor of a boxed cornbread mix. Simply add some additional ingredients for fun and tasty variations to a traditional Air Fryer Cornbread Recipe!

    • Bacon Bits or Crumbles
    • Diced Chilies and top baked cornbread with Sour Cream
    • Cheese
    • Hotdogs
    • Corn

Simply mix in ¼ Cup to ½ cup of your favorite additional ingredient mix in and stir. Then air Fryer as directed below.

    Fridge & Freezer Magic

Store cooled sweet cornbread in an air tight container for up to 5 days

Cornbread is considered a quick bread recipe where it doesn’t require yeast or the need to be kneaded. It’s often associated with southern states and fried cuisine.

    Reheat Cornbread

Reheat cornbread at 350F degrees for 1-2 minutes in Air Fryer

    Fun Fact

In 2020 Iowa produced 2.3 Billion bushels of corn being the leading state to grow corn. That's a lot of corn. Illinois comes in a close second with 2.1 Million bushels.

Is a Johnny Cake the same as Cornbread?

Although similar they are not the same. A Johnny Cake is a flat pancake made of cornmeal typically made without eggs or milk. They are delicious and often served in southern states in place of a roll.

Like many classic recipes, Cornbread became widely popular during war time when ingredients and circumstances didn’t allow for more elaborate recipes. I have found that many classic recipes are still family favorites today.

Johnny Cakes are often referred to as Hoe Cakes. Hoe Cakes got their names from how they are cooked on the flat end of a Hoe over a fire.

Some of our favorite classic recipes are American Goulash, Tuna Casserole, Chicken Divan and Instant Pot Swiss Steak. All family friendly recipes and so easy to make.

With so many Jiffy Mix recipes available, I do love how this recipe comes together in the Air Fryer. You can also bake in the Oven where this recipe is easily doubled by using 2 boxes of Jiffy corn mix and doubling the other ingredients.

Hi Ellynn, I haven't tested making muffins with this recipe, but you easily could. Cook time might be a little less is all. Use silicone muffin cups

What do you think about adding some butter and sugar to the mix? I have a recipe for the oven that has utter and sugar in it that is moist and sweet and I love it.
