There are a million different reasons to become healthy and to live a healthy lifestyle, but the biggest reasons are because it’s good for your body and mind. When you live healthily, you give your body what it needs to not only survive but to thrive as well. You can fight off diseases, lose weight, and live a longer and happier life. Sounds great, right?
Besides watching what you eat every day, getting good rest can do wonders for your health. Restful sleep can help your body and brain to recover and recharge. Keeping poor sleeping habits for too long can have you become drowsy, sick, or worse. These are some of the biggest reasons to get a good sleep routine in place and to get the proper amount of sleep needed for you to get good rest.
While having a good sleep routine is crucial to getting good rest, so is where you lay down at night.
Sleep is super important to me but what’s even more important than sleep is the quality of the sleep. I, like many others, have a bad back. In fact, my spine is even fused. I like to think that the extra titanium in my back makes me bionic! But in reality, it also makes me stiff and there is nothing worse than an unsupportive bed that I get to lay on for 8 hours a day with a bad back.
Having a good supportive mattress that can encourage your body to heal and rest well is a good way to ensure that you get that good deep sleep we all need.
Introducing the Tuft and Needle Hybrid, Bed in a Box
I’ve noticed a large craze of people purchasing Bed in a Box mattress and to be honest, I became quite curious about all of the hype. It’s a bed in a box, that is shipped to your front door- How could you not have questions or be curious about it?
I wanted to know if they could actually be as comfortable as a plush pillow top mattress like the one I’ve become accustomed to sleeping on.
Another question is how do they fit an entire mattress into a box?
I was skeptical about this, but have to admit the idea sounded better than going to a mattress store and laying on a bunch of random mattresses while a salesperson stares at you. Can anyone seriously get comfortable with a salesperson staring at you? I sure can’t, and laying on that bed in the showroom with the stiff pillow is never going to give me the chance to get comfortable. Do you sleep like that? I know I sure don’t! I need some space to relax, (like in my own home).
This is a big reason why the Tuft and Needle 100 night trial is ideal. No more stiff showroom pillow and awkward salesman to watch you. You can get comfy, relax and snuggle into bed and then you can decide if this bed is right for you.
So here I am, giving Tuft and Needle Hybrid Mattress a real honest test.
I have slept on both the Original and the Mint Tuft and Needle Mattress a time or two and have found the experience really nice. Which is why I have partnered up with Tuft and Needle to bring you this full review of the Tuft and Needle Hybrid mattress.
Unboxing the Tuft and Needle Hybrid
This mattress is so easy to unbox but it is incredibly quick- so don’t blink! It’s all kinds of crazy fun watching the mattress grasp for air and expand to its full shape. Just note that the box is really heavy and may require the strength of a strong teenager or two people to lift.
You’ll want to make sure that you open the box near the place that you put it or somewhere where there is enough space for the giant mattress to safely expand. Once out of the box, there will be a deflated mattress rolled up and covered in several layers of strong plastic.
There will be simple to follow instructions for removing the plastic and setting up the mattress. Don’t be surprised if you hear your mattress hissing before you cut it. That’s the noise of it trying to suck in air.
Carefully cut the plastic, you don’t want to accidentally cut the fabric of your new mattress! But be ready to jump back at any second because almost immediately after cutting that plastic your Tuft and Needle Hybrid, Bed in a Box is going to take shape. I’m not even kidding! I watched my friends unbox their mattresses and it only took about 2.5-3 seconds to get it out and in shape.
Within seconds the once deflated mattress will appear as a full sized mattress. Finish cutting off any plastic and remove it from the mattress.
A Couple of things to note
Your mattress will need to be placed on a platform. Tuft and Needle’s website has specific details about what that is and it ranges from box springs to a platform bed.
Also, I highly recommend unboxing your bed in a box in the morning so that it has all day to air out and finish expanding before you sleep in it. In my experience, it fully expands within seconds, but letting it have all of that extra time to relax is a really good idea.
Because I’m talking about the unboxing of the bed in a box, it makes sense to add this here- A question I’ve been asked a lot recently is “does the mattress have a smell?” I’ll be honest, it does have a smell. It smells exactly like a new mattress! There’s nothing strange smelling about it. Nothing too chemically or “off.” But still, give it the day to air out before sleeping in it so you can remove some of that new mattress smell.
And of course, waiting all day is hard because if you’re anything like me you just want to jump on the bed, lay down, roll over, grab a pillow and snuggle in. It’s a new mattress so of course, I’d want to test it out, and with the 100 night Sleep Trial I can do exactly that (and so can you!)
Tuft and Needle 100 Sleep Guarantee
Tuft and Needle has a 100 day sleep trial where you can test out the bed and return it at any point during that time if it’s not what you want. Not to mention, there is also a 10 year limited warranty that you can get for your mattress in a box.
Wait, how long do Tuft and Needle beds last?
With a 10 year warranty, you’re probably wondering how long these mattresses are designed to last (you’re not alone!) the truth is that many of these mattresses were specially tested and designed to last at least 10 years. Most mattresses can give you about 6 years of life, so this is a really great thing to note. Of course, the wear and tear and lifespan of your mattresses does come down to how you use it and how well it’s taken care of too.
With this 100 night sleep trial, I can give my body a chance to become accustomed to the new mattress, which is awesome! Now that it’s here, I’m actually loving the support and comfort that I am getting. I honestly can’t wait to finish the 100 day sleep night trial to see how well rested and relaxed I’ll become.
Sleep is Vital for Healthy Living
Without proper sleep, our bodies struggle in so many ways and let me tell you, I notice it. If you pay attention to your moods, behaviors, weight loss (or weight gain) you could probably track it back to a sleep related issue as having helped to cause it.
Let's be honest, when I don't eat I tend to get "hangry" and when I don't sleep well or enough. I'm just downright cranky. My body hurts, my head hurts, I'm moody and irritable.
Sleep is so very important and as a mom, I know how neglected it sometimes can be, but getting in a good night’s sleep is a huge factor in every person’s overall health and well-being.
Unfortunately, you can’t make up for lost sleep which is why it's so important to have quality sleep night after night.
So after getting this far, you may have some questions and I’d love to help answer them for you! Here are some questions and answers that can help you to get a better idea of this mattress.
Is Tuft and Needle a Good Mattress?
This hybrid mattress has so many layers for support and comfort from foam to springs and more, giving you the comfort you want and the support your body needs.
Can you flip a T&N Mattress?
Unlike other mattresses where you have to team up to lift and flip, T&N mattresses have the comfort padding on one side only, making it unnecessary to flip. This makes your job as a bed owner easier by giving you one less annual chore.
Do you need a box spring with a T&N Mattress?
The majority of box springs actually don’t contain springs, but if you have an older box spring that is still in really good shape, you can use it with your T&N mattress.
What type of bed frame do I need?
The way the mattress is designed, it’s made to be compatible with most bed frames. It works with our bed frame just fine and with not needing to buy another frame I don’t have to worry about any additional expenses.

What is different about the T&N Hybrid Mattress?
Great Question! A traditional mattress of course has springs and layers of bedding to make soft and plush giving varying levels of support and comfort to please every type of sleeper. The Original and Mint T&N Mattress have layers of foam creating a perfect mattress for support and comfort. The Hybrid takes the best of both worlds adding inner springs wrapped in layers of foam for the perfect Hybrid approach to a mattress.
My overall opinion of this Tuft and Needle Mattress
I think the biggest question you might have is if I would recommend this mattress to others, and yes, yes I would! Like I mentioned previously, I have tried both the Original and the Mint Mattress prior to this T&N Hybrid, and all of them have given me a quality night’s sleep.
This Tuft and Needle Hybrid Mattress is almost motionless so even when my spouse does one of those huge alligator rolls in bed (you know the kind where you get bounced off of the bed) I can hardly feel it.
The T&N Hybrid mattress accommodates all sleeper types very well and even has edges of the mattress that are reinforced so that they don’t sag or drop off with support either. It’s perfect for how I sleep and with so much attention to detail, quality products on the market, and their top-notch guarantees and trials in place, it’s easy to see why you should invest in a hybrid mattress.
