    Shopping List

Green Beans: Frozen French Green Beans or Fresh are perfect

Cream Sauce: Heavy Whipping Cream, Cream Cheese, Chicken Broth, Butter

    Vegetables: Shallot, Mushrooms and Garlic

How to make Green Bean Casserole Instant Pot

Gather all the ingredients needed along with a baking dish. See additional notes for making recipe with fresh green beans in recipe card.

Set Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker to Saute and wait for the front panel to read "Hot". Melt 1 tablespoon butter and add diced mushrooms and diced shallot.

Saute until mushrooms and shallot are tender and add minced garlic. Deglaze Instant Pot so you do not get a burn notice by adding broth. Use a Flat wooden spoon to scrape any stuck bits off the bottom.

Instant Pot sauteed Mushrooms and Shallot

Add frozen green beans, and remaining butter. Pour heavy cream on top and place cream cheese on top.

Set Pressure Cooker to 3 Minutes on High Pressure. Release the pressure with a quick release and open lid. Stir green beans with softened cream cheese. Add crumbled bacon and stir to combine.

    Instant Pot Green Bean Casserole

Sprinkle parmesan cheese and stir. This gives flavor as well as will thicken sauce. Salt and Pepper to taste.

Pour casserole into a baking dish and top with French Fried Onions. Place in oven under broiler for 1-2 minutes or until crispy. These will cook quickly. Stay by oven and watch.

Wash and remove strings from Green Beans by snipping ends and pulling string down edges. Cut green beans into bite size pieces about 2-3inches in length.

Follow directions except cook for 5 minutes. Quick release pressure and follow remaining directions.

Why is my green bean casserole runny?

Initially when making Green Bean Casserole in the Instant Pot the sauce can appear runny. Allowing the casserole to cool will help thicken the sauce along with adding Parmesan Cheese to help thicken sauce.

This was delicious! The instructions call for minced garlic but I didn’t see that in the ingredients so I guessed at the amount of garlic. I made half the recipe to see if I would want it for Thanksgiving and I will definitely be making a triple recipe for next Thursday! Thank you for this recipe!
