Holiday meals are always fun, filled with traditional recipes like Homemade Cranberry Sauce recipe to Sweet Potato Mash and lets not forget about making a delicious sweet and tart Cranberry Orange Apple Relish.

I'll give you some tips as to how I prepare and serve this fun dish for your Holiday Table.

This recipe is really simple to make. Use a food processor to pulse the ingredients into the perfect chopped blend. Do not over do, you do not want to puree or mash the ingredients.

    Cranberry Orange Relish

Thanksgiving Meals always have holiday favorites and traditional recipes. Make this Cranberry Relish Recipe a NEW Holiday tradition for your family.

    Shopping List

This list is quick and easy and also fairly inexpensive too. Add your favorite crackers or tortilla chips for a simple Appetizer Recipe.

    • Fresh Cranberries, frozen cranberries do not work as well.
    • Orange
    • Apple, Granny Smith Apple is preferred.
    • Sugar

How to make Cranberry Orange Relish

Wash cranberries pulling out any berry that is soft or looking not so good. Place berries in a food process and quickly pulse over and over until berries are finely chopped. Do not over process or berries will turn to a puree.

    Cranberries in Food Processor

Place chopped cranberries into a medium bowl and set aside. Cut off the ends of the orange and slice orange into 6 or 8 slices removing seeds as needed. Place orange slices, orange peel and all into the food processor and pulse until finely chopped.

This mixture will look more blended than the cranberries because of all the juice from the orange. Place chopped orange in bowl with diced cranberries and set aside.

Peel and core Granny Smith Apple removing all seeds and slicing into 6-8 slices. Using food processor chop to finely chopped pieces by pulsing over and over. Add coarsely chopped apples to mixing bowl and combine cranberries, orange and apple together.

Chopped Cranberries, Orange, and Apple in mixing bowl

Stir in sugar. Allow relish to sit in refrigerator for at least an hour or overnight for best results. Serve as an appetizer with crackers or tortilla chips or use as a side dish and garnish baked chicken or turkey. It's delicious.

    What is Cranberry Relish?

Simply put, Cranberry Relish is a condiment made of raw ingredients. Cranberries are extremely tart and adding fresh Orange, and Apple along with sugar makes a delicious Relish Recipe. Cranberry Sauce is similar in taste but also different as it's cooked and has a different consistency and texture.

Can this recipe be made in advance?

This recipe should be made at least 1 hour prior to being served. Ingredients and flavors will meld together as it sits. But it can also be made up to 3 days in advance too.

Can Cranberry Apple Relish be Frozen?

Freezing fresh Cranberry Relish is not ideal. When raw ingredients are frozen and thawed the will be lots of juices that are created. I recommend removing some of the juices before serving if relish has been frozen previously.
